X-ray technicians are health care workers who are specifically skilled to take images of the inside parts of a human body to help in diagnosing diseases and injuries. They develop these pictures and position the patients so that they are able to take the best possible images for easy diagnosis. X-rays are waves with a high frequency, high on the electromagnetic spectrum. This is known as radiation. The waves produce black on solid mass like the bones and shades of grey and white on flesh and ligaments afte the different body tissues absorb them in different amounts.
A limited scope X-ray technician is an essential member of the health care team as they have a very important role in a medical facility. Their basic duty includes positioning the hand, wrist, forearm, chest, elbow, knee, foot or ankle in readiness for the x-ray. Other expanded duties that they are not enabled to perform such as taking x-ray images of the abdomen are left to the radiologic technologist.
Besides being skilled in providing x-ray services, a limited scope x-ray technician is also qualified to act as a technical assistant. This is because they are able to perform electrocardiograms, venipuncture, urinalysis, injections, laboratory tests, x-ray film processing, electrocardiography as well as associated back office procedures for patient care.
They are also trained on the basics of anatomy and physiology in theory and practical application, the basic radiographic physics, the introduction to particular disease processes and trauma affecting the different body systems, respiratory and skeletal systems being emphasized, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification. They are also trained to position the hand, wrist, forearm, chest, elbow, knee, foot or ankle in the x-ray lab, and skilled to perform venipuncture, electrocardiography, urinalysis, injections, laboratory tests and x-ray film processing as well as primary office administrative procedures and patient care.X-ray technology is quite complicated anyone interested in learning anything about x-rays should be very keen in getting good information about the latest technology in x-ray equipment. There are quite a number of online sites where you can find good information on the best technology available for x-ray equipments
